Why is my red-eared slider is the development of white spots on its shell?
in the last month of my turtle has developed a small white spot on its back and more are appearing. staining feel like the rest of the shell. PLEASE HELP what are those stains!
A picture would help. Chances are that only water deposits. If it is soft and smelly shell rot. Make sure you have a suitable place to take the sun, where the turtle can get out of the water and dry completely off. You also need to have their heat lamp and UVA / UVB lamp above the ground pilgrim. Fungus / rot Shell: Shell rot is caused by a fungus or bacteria infection. It is very serious and if left untreated, can lead to other diseases and infections. The infection will start if the fungus or bacteria is allowed to enter cracks in the shell. The signs include shell rot beneath the surface discoloration shell, soft spots in the tank, and a foul smelling discharge around the soft tissues. To try this yourself, remove the thin layer of keratin peeling the affected area, then gently wipe the bone with a betadine or povidone-iodine cleanser and apply Polysporin Gentocin or ointment. Repeat for three days. Then paint the area with gentian violet 2% every two days until dry. Protect the area with a bandage to keep it clean, but it sure air can get to the wound. Keep the water turtle, except for soaking and need to eat. If the area of shell rot is large, the animal must be taken to a veterinarian who is to reptiles. To prevent putrefaction skin, yeast infections (white or gray spots or plumes on the skin) should be treated as soon as observed. They can be treated with prescription medicines from fungi that are used for Tropical Fish in aquariums. Clean and disinfect any cuts in the shell of the turtle, and apply the cream triple antibiotic immediately. The enclosure should be as clean as possible, and all feces and uneaten food should be removed at least once a day. The water should be changed daily, or sooner if soiled.
The Margate Shell Ladies
It's only when you get close enough you realize that despite their appearance profoundly out of place these ladies are more a Margarete part of any other resident, who are in fact part of the city, make it. Carefully made from shells, especially those of local scallops carapace shiny white ladies are the pearls of Margate.
The sculptures are the work of a locally based artist Ann Carrington whose client list is almost as impressive as their job. His pieces grace the collections of Elton John, Rothschild, Paul Smith and Levi Strauss. Ms. Carrington has exhibited worldwide and the Commonwealth Scholarship sculpture in his robe is not surprising such work exudes effortless charm and graceful.
In its official website theshelllady, Ms. Carrington said that the inspiration for their work came the shell ornaments are still sold in the Margate seafront. Despite these humble beginnings the ladies shell cut impressive figures, more even when gathered in numbers. Ms. Carrington has collected a total of twelve women, each named after a famous lady Margate, each with its distinctive appearance. Fortunately famous ladies are chosen in a historical sense and not in a modern tabloid for Tracy Emin has, for the moment lost the opportunity to be immortalized in the form of shell marina.
Baroness Orczy in life was the author who has traveled and glamor of "The Scarlet Pimpernel." His counterpart shell is more than six feet tall with a hive painted urchin shells and heavy skirt of scallops. Without doubt, the Baroness would approve his image causing excitement among Margate constant, if slightly diminished flow tourists. Those who do not have a strong interest in the history of the city may have trouble recognizing the names of many of the ladies of shell, but all have ties to the city resort. Of the children writer Mary Lamb to the holder of the deposit famous grotto of Margate, Ann Hill. Every woman is a thread in the rich tapestry of the history of the city once a grandmother.
Perhaps the most striking thing about the sculptures is as effortlessly evoke the colorful history of Margate. This effect is reinforced by clever advertising, with storefronts abandoned sports graphics designed largely in the Victorian style. Even these graphics are cleverly designed to complement both Ladies and benefit local businesses. Ms. Carrington states on its website that the graphics were in place for local writers to address many of which are companies third generation. It is wonderful to think that families have long maintained the arches, bathing machines and ice cream trucks are now part of a project has the charm of the camp by the sea itself, which attracted many tourists to the beaches in 1900.
Surprisingly the ladies, despite the efforts in them and the disarmament of its beauty is little more than advertising for a much larger project. In September 2008 a lady from shell four-meter bronze foundry be placed at the end of Old Port Margate arm to become a permanent feature of peoples steel gray seascape. As Ms Carrington The remarkable points of this choice of placement is the fact of the spectacular marine was once a favorite among residents of Margate's most famous JMW Turner, one of the most remarkable landscape of the nineteenth century.
By placing the woman against a giant shell of the most important in the history of landscape painting is Margate permanent union of two distinct parts. The resort high English Historical Society. A place of elegance, wealth and beauty post merges with spicy bucket and spade image that, for cities summarizes many as Margate. The bronze shell lady named "Mrs. Booth" after the sea patron with whom Turner decided to stay, while in Margate. The couple fell in love and lived as Mr. and Mrs. Booth, Mrs. Booth as patron Turner until his death.
Once the bronze was erected this summer will be the first visible step in the slow regeneration of Margate. A plan to build up a new gallery to launch the local tourist economy are similarly made by Tate St Ives. We can only hope Mrs. Booth, a day watch Margate for the revitalization of their presence is at least partially responsible.
