What car paint color imitates white pearl best?
I’m currently trying to touch up the fuel door on my car. The paint code is W69 and the color is pearl white. After some research on the internet, I know it’s tri-coat and so it’s hard to find touch up paints. I found a website that will sell me both coats for $40 and then the third clear coat for more.
I don’t want to spend $40, and will be happy with something that comes very close. Has anyone tried imitating pearl white with any other color? or does anyone have experience with car paints and have ideas on what may work best?
I have already purchased a primed fuel door and would just like to use touch up paint to get it as close to original as possible. I’ve already been to autozone and found they have so many different whites, i’d have to spend $40 just to try them all.
I only know that code for either a Mitsubishi or an older Chrysler, both of which are almost exactly the same. However, you will find that most pearl whites are essentially the same.
Some stores, such as Wal-Mart or local automotive paint stores carry spray cans of automotive paint and clear coat. If you cannot find the color, I would suggest going to an automotive paint supply store (FinishMaster, English Color, etc.) to see if they know of someone who could do the job for you for a lower cost.
If all else fails, try going to a car dealership and ask if they have a mobile paint service who repairs their used cars on their lot. This guy could probably paint your fuel door fairly cheap. (I should know, that’s what I do for a living.)
