can you help me understanding this report,please? its serious?
i just made a hysterosalpingography “a film made inside the uterus to view it and the fallopian tubes” and the report was:
* history of ectopic pregnancy in the left fallopian tube which was surgically removed.
* normal course and caliber of the left fallopian tube it is visualized till its distal portion where it bluntly ends with no evidence of spill
*the right fallopian tube is patent showing normal caliber with free contrast spill from its fimbrial end
*fair peritoneal smearing is seen in delayed control film
OPINION:
* findings suggestive of left tubal block for further correlation with clinical and operative data

The fallopian tube is the tube which delivers the egg to the uterus. Eggs are also fertilized in there.
The report is saying that sometime in the past, the left fallopian tube had an egg which was fertilized, but instead of traveling on to the uterus, it lodged in the tube. The fertilized egg (embryo) was surgically removed.
The left fallopian tube is normal in it’s inside dimensions until it gets to the distal end where it abrupty ends and the dye has not spilled which indicates that it is blocked.
The right fallopian tube looks normal.
Not sure what the last sentence above the opinion means, but it may be talking about the quality control test being normal.
So, basically it’s saying the left tube is blocked.
I am not a doctor. I worked in a lab preparing surgical tissues for doctor’s to look at and I was always hearing them dictate their findings. I would suggest you ask your doctor to explain this to you in layman’s terms. I am only giving you my opinion of what I think the report means.
