Tone Enamel
What are the effects of painting my guitar and what type of paint is best?

Now I know that with the hole / hollow-bodied guitars semi- and acoustic guitars can change the tonal qualities (for better or worse) when added paint and / or lacquer. However, I have intend to paint the back of the neck and head stock of a solid body guitar (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Squier-Standard-Stratocaster-with-Tortoise-Shell-Pickguard?sku=512732 ) Black. I want to make sure that the painting of these parts does not affect any of the properties of the guitar tone. Now secondly, I'm not sure what the best paint to use. I have heard many people say "airbrush is, but I'm on a tight budget ($ 30 or less). So what kind of paint spray (acrylic, metal, enamel, etc.) must be used and the same for what kind of varnish or sealant protection? Also, (this is not so important) I can paint pegs, bridge, whammy bar, and making a cast Metal Gold, once again to change the tone? Much thanks for any help!

Aerosol spray in very thin layers probably your best bet. While you can change the tone very slightly, it will be barely perceptible. The reason people have said it is better is because airbrushing the paint is so thin. I recommend calling your local guitar repair or seller. A small company specializing in the restoration of instruments and make repair or custom building is well versed in all aspects of both mechanical and sound, and of course people love this mod. I can give some advice on the basis of what I know about the tools and painting, but it is better to give a short call a professional.
