I have heard it said by consumer advocates that one should buy one of those cross-cutting shredders?
so it cuts papers both ways for better security. Are there really people out there who will dig through the garbage to piece togeather a bundle of shredded paper if it is only cut into strands and not little squares to steal someone’s identity?
People will do this yes…
The reason why they say it’s better to get a cross-cut shredder is that it’s much more difficult for dumpster divers to piece things back together, rather than straight strips.
Better yet, my boss burns all his paperwork, so unless the ID thief can piece together ashes, his documents are guaranteed destroyed.
