What to do when half a strand of LEDs burns out?
Okay, so LEDs are supposed to survive a nuclear holocaust, but the new strand on multi-coloured X-Mas tree LEDs I just bought from Costco are currently only half working. Half the strand is bright and beautiful, and the other half is, well, dead.
Tested fuses, and the thing is plugged directly into the wall socket at this point.
Problem is, the tree is otherwise already decorated. Ornaments, garland, the whole shebang. So, my question:
Is it safe to just leave the half-dead strand on the tree? Or do I need to cut the bugger out of there (after unplugging it, natch)? And by safe, I mean I’m mostly concerned about what could’ve caused the lights to dim. Viz., is there a short involved, etc.

Do you know there are two fuses inside the plug. Look at it closely and you will see a little sliding piece. Slide it open and you will find the two fuses. Extra fuses should have come with it.
The only other thing I could think of is one of the light bulbs isn’t in tight. Push all the bulbs into the sockets to be sure.
