Silver Lovely

Silver Lovely
I have a beautiful silver Burmilla cat. She was traumatised and will not stop p**sing in the house help?

Look I think this cat is lovely but really the place is starting to smell. My husband wants to get rid of her, but I dont. However now the smell is starting to be awful, we use carpet cleaners, but you cat lovers know how the smell invades everything.
We went on holiday and we had someone living in the house to take care of her for 2 weeks. She went missing for 6 weeks …when the school opened up after the school holidays they found her in one of the classrooms. She was a bag of bones and lucky to be alive…luckily she had access to water or she would have been dead for sure. She was chesked out by the vet who found nothing wrong with her apart from being malnurished. The problem has escalated since then. She is weeing on coats, bags anything really…

As your cat has been traumatised, her behaviour is perfectly natural and to be expected.

Rather than looking at the inappropriate urination as the problem, why not look at the real focus of the problem? Be concerned with how the poor cat is feeling and this will have a knock-on effect on her toilet behaviour.

Do not get rid of her. Your cat urinates inappropriately because (as you point out) she has been traumatised by something – it’s not an offense worthy of making her homeless. Tell your husband that from me. Stick to your guns – do not get rid of her.

Have you looked at the possibility of a urinary tract infection that may have been bought about by stress? What has happened to your cat to cause her such distress?

Honestly, the best thing you can do is take her to the vet and get professional advice about how to deal with this. I’ve included some helpful links for you to read:
