can you put 3 silver dollar fish with 1 oscar and 1 tinfoil barb in a 55 gallon tank?
I am looking for good combanations for my 55 gallon tank and i realy like oscars, clown knife fish and also other south american cichlids. Can you give me a couple of combos?
can i put a couple of blood parrots or jack dempsys with the oscar?
If you really like Oscars your best bet is to get one and keep it in that tank. They get very big, very fast and need huge tanks. They’re also really aggressive and will eat anything. The only thing you could really keep with them is a Pleco, and they must have somewhere to hide. But in your tank only one Oscar and one Pleco would fit comfortably.
Silver dollars and Barbs are both pretty docile fish. Though both are know to be slightly aggressive. These two species can be kept together. Silver dollars can grow over 6″ long and they should be kept in groups of 4-6 or else they will not thrive. Tinfoil barbs can get over a foot long and really need a larger tank. You could try keeping one or two, but it would be very cramped once all the fish reach full size.
The clown knife gets huge, you would need something like 300 gallons to comfortably home a fish of this size. And their diet is made up of fish, so any small fish in your tank would be dinner. This fish is just not suited for the tank you have.
So far it’s looking like you should go with some Cichlids. The best for your tank would be some Rams. These fish stay on the smaller side, around 3″. They are more peaceful than most other cichlids. Rams are absolutely beautiful, their coloration is amazing and a group of them would look great in your tank. You could add some Dwarf Gouramis to the tank. These come in a few different colors like blue, red, and honey. As a bottom feeder, you could get a group of Kuhlii Loaches. I would get at least 5 as they are a grouping fish. These three species would look great and thrive in a well planted, well cycled aquarium with a fine gravel or sand.
With a tank that size you could also do a really beautiful tropical community tank. You could mix different types of tetras, mollies, platies, and danios. Since most of these fish stay small you would be able to get a good amount. There would always be lots of activity in the tank. A group of Cory Cats would do great as scavengers in a tank like this. You really have a lot of options with a 55 gallon, just make sure the fish you’re looking at don’t get too big. A 55 sounds big, but it just can’t hold most larger fish. Hope I could help!

Light As A Feather But Sharp As A Knife
Lacrosse is no stranger to break through technology. It seems that since the sport really started spreading through schools in the United States the equipment used on the field has gone from near primitive to some of the most advanced technology in sports.
