the suffering of children with ITP since May 2005, now age 13, blood type o-ive, platlets remain around 20K even less?
Purple appearing in the legs, probably from the age of 6 were diagnosed with ITP at the age of 12 when pin point field appeared on the lips after the mouth, then legs and finally in her arms. Platlet have dropped to zero at times. Do not reply to deltacortril 65 mg tablets daily. Good response to prednisolone mythile at 1000 mg daily, but no response below 250 mg. Excellent response to IVIG (count of 200K to 435K plt) and continued IVIG for the initial five months and after vincristine for one and a half (two 10 mg injections per week each, plt cont 40K to 60K but the side effects terrable) and finally 2 mg of colchicine, but platlet count to 40K gradually decreases response to colchicine and colchicine was declined. Currently taking vitamin C 500 mg daily and 10 mg K alongwith Vitain homeopathic medicine and tell platlet remain between 7K and 20K. Is there any guarantee that splenectomy will solve the problem? or any other treatment without or with minimal side effects?
Hmm … but I'm not sure the spleen is the main site of platelet destruction, but removal of the spleen shows only the platelet count in 50% of people. Other treatments when disease does not respond to initial treatment are high dose oral danazol gamma globulin injections of drugs that suppress the immune system passing the blood over a protein A (Prosorba) column, which filters antibodies out of the blood stream anti-RhD therapy can also be useful in people with type MAYBE specific blood! In children, the disease often runs its course without treatment. Hope this helps
