in fact the mass percentage of sterling silver is 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper if you have 100 grams of silver is: 92.5 grams of silver (here 925 is where it is often used to mark the silver comes) .. and 7.5 grams of copper. So I have no idea where you get 7%. unless the piece is sterling silver?
