Should we get this car?
We really need a car. We have our heart set on a 2004 Nissan Murano. Its beautiful. Its gold with leather interior, fully loaded, and a moom roof. For the miles and year the car is going for $21,000 on KBB. The only thing is that it has been in an accident in which the passanger side doors had to be replaced. This depreciates the value but I dont know to what. The guy is asking for $18,995. We offered him $15,995 because of the accident. He said he couldnt take less than $18,000. That was a week ago. Should we offer him $17,000 or just forget about it. I dont want to over pay. I havnt done this before. What should we do.

A vehicle that has been in an accident is never the same. I would never knowingly buy a vehicle that has been in an accident especially considering you don’t really know the extent of the damage and what kind of job the repair shop did. You could open your door in a year and find some nice body rust and then you’re really going to be unhappy.
I can tell you if the passenger side doors had to be replaced which probably means the vehicle was t-boned, I’d be worried about frame damage.
EDIT: JeffyB’s answer below is inaccurate. If a vehicle remains straight it just means it is properly aligned. That does not by any means indicate that the vehicle has no further damage.
