Vaseline Intensive Care bath beads+black tea=ammonia?
I have sunburn on my back, and I’ve been looking for ways to soothe it. So far, I’ve tried (separately) unsweetened black tea and Vaseline Intensive Care bath beads with aloe and vitamin E (mixed in water). And they’ve seemed to work ok. So, I got the bright idea just earlier to mix some dissolved bath beads with what I had left over of the tea (that had been sitting in the fridge over night). The resulting liquid was a scary bluish-brownish color (pretty much a combination of the two original colors), but it smelled like ammonia. What went wrong here? Was it really ammonia?

There is nothing in the formulation that could readily turn to ammonia. You may be smelling the alteration of the scent in the bath beads by the acid in the tea.
