How to Mix Ink: Ink Mixing for Pad Printing & Screen Printing
Of Ink Mixing is a basic but very important step to achieve a quality image with screen printing or pad printing . If not done properly, the entire printing process can be very frustrating and, in turn, may cause a loss of production and a waste of valuable time and energy.
Before you begin, it is essential that you use the right equipment. Unlined cups of mixture (without wax), mixing sticks and a quality scale with a precision electronic 0.1 grams are very important. Without this, the ink mixture becomes guess work, making the quality and accuracy of the impression of suffering.
Footsteps ink mixture:
1. Zero or tare the scale (make sure you are on a flat surface).
2. Add the ink to a mixing bowl. Try not to use less than 40 grams and which does not flow well in the cup or inkwell, once mixed.
3. Add appropriate hardener ratio (4:1 for 1000H = 25% 20:1 for HGL = 5%).
4. Mix these two ingredients thoroughly. Note: pad printing and screen printing inks that are activated with hardener have 1000H/1000KGL a lifespan of about 8-10 hours.
5. Start by adding thinner in a ratio of 5% -10% after re-mix.
6. Continue thinner by adding a drop "to drop" rate to a working viscosity is achieved. Add all at once thin tends to "shock" the ink. Typical mixing ratios of 15% solvent to the weight of the ink. Remember, it is easier to add than take away. This also helps prevent ink over thinning.
Note that Sapphire Pad Printing & Screen Printing Inks are very opaque and taken thinner than most inks. The adjustment of the viscosity of the ink depends on the quality of diluent is added. In general, you should never exceed 20-25%, however, the dilution varies from series to series.
If you follow these simple steps should help to improve your portfolio or screen printing process. If you have any questions please contact me, Pete Baxer at 1-978-646-8980 and I will be happy to assist.

Pérez anyone have any advice on the preparation Rottweiler / Chow Chow mix my queue?
I inherited a Rottweiler, Chow Chow mix during Holidays and its tail is terribly dull. Pérez anyone have tips on how to properly comb out the tail so it does not it? I bathed her and used large amount of conditioner on the tail and brush dematting, but there is much more there!
Or shaved and start from scratch, or simply follow it. It may take some time and lots of elbow grease to get something totally dematted.
