Selling craft on it’s own doesn’t usually do too well… people are just not willing to pay enough for your labour (consider if it took you only 20 hours to knit up a sweater, plus materials for $40, even if you found someone to pay $80 for it, that means you made only $40 which works out $2 per hour).
Most people who sell crafts do it as a labour of love. Etsy is a pretty good place to start, or if you’re good at writing the patterns I’ve heard that you can make money selling patterns on www.ravelry.com when you sell them for $4-6 each.
Otherwise, many crafters often find related jobs but not necessarily directly making and selling crafts. Teaching courses isn’t a bad idea as doing crafts in general seems to be making a come back. Sewing you may be able to do alterations for people as well as something more enjoyable to keep a small business afloat.
