In eight years, what would be a realistic non-metal basis for a prosthetic hand?
Hello, all:
I know nothing about chemistry, and am asking this question in relation to a book that I am writing for the National Novel Writing Month.
One of my characters has a hand that is a prosthetic. It is essential that this hand not set off metal detectors, so I’m looking for some other material that the “bones” could be made out of. They’re able to coax skin to grow over the framework, but the muscles and internal structure are all artificial.
Thanks to everyone who takes the time to lend a bewildered would-be author a hand. 
Prosthetic limbs today don’t set off metal detectors: they aren’t designed to pick up titanium, which is also what replacement bones (like ribs or hips) are often made out of. So it could be titantium.
