Glass Dotted
What type of night sight do Police use?

I’ve seen these on the show Cops. The kind that project a red light on the target. I’ve used a Glock site that showed a red dot in a small glass display and didn’t like it. I’d rather have the target lit. Are they useful at all in day light?

A projected red dot on the target is laser sighting. What you saw was a “holographic” sight. It superimposes a red dot on the shooter’s view through the sight, but it doesn’t project it. Holographic sights work whenever you have enough environmental light to see the target through the optics. It will not work in pitch dark, since you will see nothing in the sight but the dot.
