Sending Flowers to the Philippines
I was able to save more than two hundred dollars in my recent trip to Kuala Lumpur from the Philippines. In place of shipment for week in a cheap hotel, I discovered the week before my departure that an old friend had migrated and taken an expatriate status in the Bangsar area of Kuala Lumpur, one of the better-looking districts of the capital of Malaysia. We were very close to coming out of our ways of seeing one another outside work but we were close enough to share a few rounds of alcohol.
He said to give you a ring when I came to Malaysia. From the Philippines took a flight to Singapore for a conference and took the bus Kuala Lumpur, a good five hour drive along the road which connects Singapore to Kuala Lumpur. She had offered his house to spend the long holiday week I decided to use this opportunity to express my escape from the Philippines, as I still remember fondly. As it turns out she would be leaving (for Singapore, also for a conference) and really did not care to have them place me at the moment. I would say I'm joking "your man has." This was probably the kindest gesture someone you have done for me and there I was, in one of the best condominiums in KL for a week.
And it took days for me to understand how to give change. You see the catch was that my flight to the Philippines and your return flight did not match. I would be left leaving an empty condominium, dropping the key in the fall box office manager for her to pick up a day after my departure.
Usually spent the afternoons in the cafe about five minutes from the condo and right side is a grocery store where I'd get my cereal for the day and wine for the night. Part of my "gift to go home" for her included me stocking your pantry with cereals, cheese, bread and a bottle of house wine. But there was something missing. Looking around the condo furnished I knew lacked that special touch. And then I realized as I looked at the counter near the television. I ran to the store and picked up a new batch of mixed flowers. Back on the floor, I emptied the old water glass with withered flowers and replaced them. Good as new, its place now had a special touch.
Days later I leave a message on the computer saying he was grateful for the gesture pantry – and especially glad about the floral arrangement in the living room. It's a great feeling to know that you can make someone happy even when you're so far away. Since moving, this was the first vessel contents were replaced.
