Dark skin Buzzed: What makes Dark toned skin?
What causes dark toned skin? Would you like to clarify skin? The answers to these questions is described here.
Deep beneath the surface of the skin in the basal layer called the stratum, melanocytes meet. The basal layer also the location of skin stem cells.
The skin is an organ of the body that naturally rejuvenates over the life of a person. Old cells scraped off and new ones are produced by the mother or stem cells.
Melanocytes are specialized cells that produce melanin, the hormone that in humans serves as a pigment. It is the main determinant of skin color of a person. It is found in hair, iris, glands adrenal and parts of the inner ear.
When the melanocytes produce melanin, the daughter cells are further impregnated her. Gradually their way through the epidermis. The cells are composed primarily of keratin protein. They are not really living cells. Its main objective is to provide protection for the body.
Melanin helps protect the deeper tissues of the body from sun damage. Exposure to the sun (and other stuff) stimulates the melanocytes and melanin is produced.
Pigmentation Factor
When it comes to what makes dark toned skin, genetics is the main factor. Except for albinos, all human beings have some degree of pigmentation. Sun Exposure can cause skin to become darker and the sun can cause uneven pigmentation damage, but all have some color to your skin.
There are many types of melanin. The two that are most abundant in the hair and human skin are the eumelanin and pheomelanin.
Types of melanin
There are two types of eumelanin, black and brown. Pheomelanin produces a pink hue or reddish skin. It is found in people with light skin and dark skin, but is more abundant in redheads. Under the microscope, all brown melanin.
People whose ancestors lived in equatorial regions have more eumelanin in their skin. Thus, your skin tone is black or dark brown. There are more instances less resistant to sunburn and melanoma have cancer.
Melanoma – Skin Cancer
Melanoma is the most serious skin cancer. It occurs when free radicals cause mutations in melanocytes. It is more common in people with light skin.
As people gradually migrated away from the equatorial regions, their skin became clearer for a couple of reasons. They needed less protection against harmful UV rays and that they needed more vitamin D.
High levels of melanin in the skin inhibit the body's production of vitamin D. When Africans visited the UK during the industrial revolution they developed symptoms of vitamin D, because there was insufficient sunlight to penetrate through the melanin.
Dim Dom exposure of skin
Today, sun exposure is the most common cause of a dark tan or uneven tone of the skin. However, many people do not receive enough sunlight to meet the needs of your body to vitamin D. Therefore, it is something like a checkpoint 22 situation.
