How to stop 5 yr old putting tiny objects into mouth?
My nephew who turned 5 this month has got into the habit of putting tiny objects such as beads, coins and anything else that’d fit into his mouth and then sucks on it, like he would on a toffee. Pls does anyone have any suggestions on how to stop him? i am afraid he might swallow or choke on something accidentally. no amount of scoldings, or timeouts, or small talks on the danger of such things is stopping him.
P.S- his habit of nail-biting was stopped pretty recently. this m8 b an after effect of that. i suggested my sis to try giving him chewing gum. but tht cant be done forever. Please help
My niece had this problem. We took away ALL of her toys with small parts and she was left with very few toys and got bored. She had to earn toys back by not sucking on things. If she was caught, another toy was taken away. That curbed the problem pretty quickly.
