Stop Cat From Biting – Why Your Cat May Be Biting And What You Can Do To Stop It
One of the most common behavioral issues that cat owners face is cats that bite. There are several reasons why your cat may be biting you and there are also some things that you can do to stop cat from biting.
Here are the reasons why your cat may be biting:
1.) Playing and Predatory – Cats are predators and it is their instinct to hunt down and kill. Cats like to practice their hunting skills so that is why you might find yourself the victim of an attack.
2.) Fear and Anger – Cats who are fearful of strangers or frightened in certain situations will bite or scratch out of fear or anger.
3.) Territorial – Cats are very territorial and if another cat or even another animal such as a dog invades his territory, he is very apt to fight or attack.
4.) Over Stimulation – Most cats like to be petted, but when he is done being petted, it is time to stop. Many times your cat will warn you first by swishing his tail or flattening his ears. If your cat is showing you these warning signs, it is best to stop or you will probably get bitten.
5.) Illness – Your cat may be ill or hurting and that is why he is suddenly biting you. If you think this is the case, you should take your cat to the vet to see what’s going on.
Here is how you can stop cat from biting:
1.) Cats hate loud noises, so if your cat is biting you make a loud noise by thumping your hand on a hard surface. You can also fill a can with marbles or rocks and shake it to make a loud noise.
2.) If your cat bites you, loudly say, “No” and walk away from her. Cats hate to be ignored.
3.) Blow a puff of air in your cats face.
4.) Use training methods to stop cat from biting. Many times cat owners will need behavioral training to completely stop cat from biting.
