Brown Glass

Brown Glass
What is a good way to clean the brown stains on glass cookware?

I have to get all sweaty with a brillo pad and continually guess on which side of the glass is the stain.

I use a bit of Barkeeper’s Friend and a sponge. Barkeeper’s is a powdered cleanser similar to scouring powder but not as harsh. It does great with anything metal but is still gentle enough to clean glass baking dishes and a ceramic top stove. And it’s cheap!

Just damped the item, sprinkle on a good dose of the cleanser and take your sponge and smear the cleanser around. Then let the product work for about 5-10 minutes and go back and scrub. It should come off pretty quickly and won’t scratch like the brillo pads will.

What I found that most of the (but not all) of the brown residue on my bake ware was from my non-stick cooking spray. I switched from what is available in the grocery stores to a kind I bought at Sam’s Club that is formulated to prevent this darkening and it does make a difference! And the Sam’s Club stuff is in a bigger can so you get more and it’s cheaper!
