How 2 the difference between three blue gems?
I need to know how 2 2 the difference between the three precious stones, apatite Paribas, tourmaline Paribas Blue Topaz
To the trained eye, the first test would be of color. Although apatite, Paraiba tourmaline and blue topaz may be similar, subtle differences in color will give clues about which is which. However, even experts sometimes confused. Try looking in their physical and optical properties closely, for example, hardness, inclusions, pleochroism etc. Compared with Topaz (8) Tourmaline (7 to 7.5), apatite is soft. It is only 5 in the Mohs hardness scale. However, as hardness testing is destructive and it probably is not practical to scratch your stones, look for other signs. They are worn edges or facets adrados? All chips, fractures? Does it look like the surface, as is necessary to polish? Tourmaline can be a bit fragile, and may show some signs of wear as well. However, varieties Paraiba tend to be more included both Apatite & Topaz. Typical inclusions: trichites type channel, needles and glass. Also, turn the stone to see if there are differences in color management (pleochroism). Tourmaline has high esecially pleochroism. Paraiba Tourmaline varies in shades of blue neon green neon. Blue is of course more valuable. Unlike apatite and Paraiba tourmaline, blue topaz eye is almost always clean. Nor is it rare to find in large sizes. You can see division in Topaz. Look for what looks like a plane directly to the stone. If the calculation is reduced to the table perpendicular to the main axis of crystal (c axis), the cleavage plane must be parallel to the table.
