Bicone Bead
How much would you pay for these homemade pieces of jewellary?
Please answer all.
At the moment, they are all Silver Plated. But I would also like to hear how much you would pay if they were Sterling Silver.
- Paper bead earrings (Each bead is High Quality, looks like a real bead with the finish and you can only tell it’s paper because I tell you).
- Paper bead bracelet (Each takes about 90mins to make, at least).
- Crochet earrings
- Beaded earrings (Atm, beads such as Crackle Beads, acryllic or bicone Glass Beads – just some simple things)
- Swarovski earrings
Also, when I make sterling silver jewellary, do you think it’s acceptable to only make the earrings hooks themselves sterling, to keep cost down, or would all the findings involved have to be sterling?
Thank you!
Paper beads are fun to make, but not particularly durable, especially if you get them wet. I’ve never figured out how to adequately varnish the inside.
Other than that, how much an item is worth depends less on what it is made of and more on how attractive it is. What I picture as crocheted earrings might be very different from what you picture.
Is it okay to use sterling only for the ear wires? Sure, so long as you disclose this to your customers. If you label an item as sterling silver, then all metal parts must be sterling silver unless you specify which parts are not. Sterling costs more because it will not chip or wear off, exposing the cheaper material underneath. It will look nicer, longer. Personally, I figure if something is worth putting a lot of time into, then it’s worth use the best quality materials I can get so it will last.
