4)An eleven year old girl in Connecticut is making beaded earrings for a tourist shop in Colorado. Supplies cost her $4.20 per pair. Packaging and shipping cost her a total of $23. She can charge the shop $16 per pair. How many pairs must she make to make a total profit of at least $70?

2l + 2w = 500
1/2L – 32 = w
just solve. start by pluggin in the value of w (from the second eq into the first eq)
2) x=amt at 3% y= amt at 5%
.03x + .05y = 625
x+y= 14000 ……………(28000/2 since she invested half)
3) not sure what they’re asking… if they just mean the area of the mat, that would be the L(w) – 5(7) <= the area of the picture. Or, the could mean the whole area, including the pic.
4) 16x - (23+4.20x) > 70
16x – 23 -4.2x > 70
11.8x > 93
x > 7.8, round up since you can’t have .8 pr of earrings.
